Description

There's a satisfying rhythm to a blade built for bread. The Kogarashi Bread Knife glides through crust with a clean, even sawing motion, its titanium-plated, stone-washed finish giving each piece a distinct, weathered character.

The burnt white oak and red G10 handle adds a warm, bold contrast that makes slicing a fresh loaf feel like part of the ritual.

Forged from a custom 67-layer Damascus steel and hardened to 60±2 HRC, the blade holds a serrated 30° edge, gear-machined for consistent, effortless cuts.

The white oak and red G10 handle offers a secure, comfortable grip, and while it excels at bread, cake, and fruit, it's not intended for bone or other hard foods.

Our Story

A craft passed down, blade after blade

Each Meito knife is handcrafted by artisan blacksmiths who carry forward ancestral forging techniques, passed down from generation to generation.

The metal is heated, hammered, and refined with patience until it reaches the perfect balance of sharpness, durability, and elegance. This isn't mass production; it's an artisanal heritage, shaped to last a lifetime in your kitchen.

Every blade is one of a kind, shaped by hand for you and only you.

Kogarashi - Bread Knife Damascus 8"

Superb quality and much sharper than anything I have owned. Cooking has become genuinely enjoyable rather than a chore, and prep that used to take twenty minutes now takes ten. Beautifully made and clearly built to last.

The edge is astonishing. It falls through rather than cutting.

Kogarashi - Bread Knife Damascus 8"

I ordered this after my old one finally gave up and the difference is embarrassing. Everything I used to struggle with is now trivial. The handle is comfortable through long sessions and the edge has needed nothing but a quick hone. Genuinely excellent value for this level of craftsmanship.

It is rare to find something this beautiful that also works this well. Usually you choose one or the other, but the craftsmanship here delivers both. It looks superb on the counter and outperforms everything else in the kitchen.

Frequently asked questions

How do I care for and maintain my knife?

keyboard_arrow_down
add remove

Hand wash with warm water and mild soap immediately after use, then dry thoroughly with a soft cloth. Never put your knives in the dishwasher; the heat and harsh detergents will damage both the blade and the handle.

Store them in a knife block, on a magnetic strip, or with blade guards to protect the edge.

How often should I sharpen my knives, and how?

keyboard_arrow_down
add remove

With regular home use, honing with a ceramic rod every few weeks keeps the edge aligned, and a full sharpening every 6 to 12 months restores it completely. A whetstone at around 1000/3000 grit is the best option for maintaining the fine edge these blades are known for.

Are these knives suitable for beginners or only for professional chefs?

keyboard_arrow_down
add remove

They're designed for both. The balance and lightweight feel make them comfortable for home cooks, while the edge retention and precision are what professionals look for. If you're new to high-quality knives, the main adjustment is learning to let the blade do the work instead of applying pressure.

Does it come in packaging suitable for a gift?

keyboard_arrow_down
add remove

Yes. Each knife ships in a protective presentation box, so it's ready to give as-is without needing any extra wrapping. It's a common choice for weddings, housewarmings, and anyone getting serious about cooking.

Is the handle comfortable for long prep sessions?

keyboard_arrow_down
add remove

Yes. The handle is shaped to sit naturally in the hand and the knife is balanced so the weight doesn't pull forward. That balance is what prevents wrist fatigue when you're prepping for a while, and it's one of the biggest differences you'll feel compared to a cheap knife.

What if I'm not satisfied with my knife?

You're covered by a 30-day risk-free trial. Use it, cook with it, and if it's not right for you, send it back for a full refund. The knife is also backed by a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.
