Description

The Kogarashi collection distills its bold, stone-washed style into two essential blades — a wide, confident chef's knife for everyday chopping and slicing, paired with a nimble utility knife for the finer, smaller cuts in between.

Each one carries the same striking white oak and red G10 handle, giving even a compact set a real presence on the counter.

Forged from custom 67-layer Damascus steel hardened to 60±2 HRC and finished with white oak and red G10 handles, this two-piece set pairs a full-size chef's knife with a utility knife, covering general everyday cutting and smaller, more precise prep.

It's a focused daily pairing rather than a full kitchen lineup, best suited to quick prep and general-purpose cutting.

Our Story

A craft passed down, blade after blade

Each Meito knife is handcrafted by artisan blacksmiths who carry forward ancestral forging techniques, passed down from generation to generation.

The metal is heated, hammered, and refined with patience until it reaches the perfect balance of sharpness, durability, and elegance. This isn't mass production; it's an artisanal heritage, shaped to last a lifetime in your kitchen.

Every blade is one of a kind, shaped by hand for you and only you.

They went through the first cut before I even registered I had started. That is the level of sharpness here.

Kogarashi - 2-Piece Knife Set 67-Layer Damascus

The handmade quality is what sold me and it delivered. You can see the hammer marks, the slight variation in the finish, the hand rounded spines. These feel like objects with a story rather than something off a production line.

Great gift idea. Presented beautifully so you do not need to do anything to it.

Frequently asked questions

Do I really need all the knives in this set?

keyboard_arrow_down
add remove

Most home cooks reach for two or three blades daily, and the rest earn their place the moment you need them; filleting a fish, breaking down a whole chicken, precision work on herbs. Whatever the size of the set, it works out cheaper than buying the same knives individually, and everything arrives matched.

Which set size should I choose?

keyboard_arrow_down
add remove

It comes down to how you cook. A smaller set covers everyday prep and suits most kitchens without taking up counter space. Larger sets make sense if you cook often, handle whole cuts of meat or fish, or want a complete setup you won't need to add to later.

Either way, you can always expand afterwards; every knife in our sets is also sold individually.

How often should I sharpen my knives, and how?

keyboard_arrow_down
add remove

With regular home use, honing with a ceramic rod every few weeks keeps the edge aligned, and a full sharpening every 6 to 12 months restores it completely. A whetstone at around 1000/3000 grit is the best option for maintaining the fine edge these blades are known for.

Are these knives suitable for beginners or only for professional chefs?

keyboard_arrow_down
add remove

They're designed for both. The balance and lightweight feel make them comfortable for home cooks, while the edge retention and precision are what professionals look for. If you're new to high-quality knives, the main adjustment is learning to let the blade do the work instead of applying pressure.

Does it come in packaging suitable for a gift?

keyboard_arrow_down
add remove

Yes. Each knife ships in a protective presentation box, so it's ready to give as-is without needing any extra wrapping. It's a common choice for weddings, housewarmings, and anyone getting serious about cooking.

What if I'm not satisfied with my knife?

You're covered by a 30-day risk-free trial. Use it, cook with it, and if it's not right for you, send it back for a full refund. The knife is also backed by a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.
