Description

The Ryūsui 6.5" Bunka brings precision down to a compact, agile scale — light enough for quick, controlled strokes, yet substantial enough to feel purposeful in hand. The tri-color copper Damascus pattern flows across the blade, turning fine prep work into something you'll genuinely enjoy doing.

A 37-layer Damascus core hardened to 60±2 HRC keeps the edge sharp through repeated use, while the figured sycamore and padauk handle offers a warm, secure grip. With its fine point and compact 6.5-inch blade, this Bunka is ideal for detailed vegetable work and everyday prep, though it's best kept away from bone and frozen food.

Our Story

A craft passed down, blade after blade

Each Meito knife is handcrafted by artisan blacksmiths who carry forward ancestral forging techniques, passed down from generation to generation.

The metal is heated, hammered, and refined with patience until it reaches the perfect balance of sharpness, durability, and elegance. This isn't mass production; it's an artisanal heritage, shaped to last a lifetime in your kitchen.

Every blade is one of a kind, shaped by hand for you and only you.

Ryūsui - Bunka Knife Damascus 6.5"

It goes through soft and hard alike without any complaint, and it has not chipped once. Exceptional quality for the price and it has held its edge far longer than I expected. I hand wash and dry it and it still looks brand new.

Ryūsui - Bunka Knife Damascus 6.5"

This has been in daily use since spring and has not needed anything more than a quick hone. The edge is still frighteningly keen, the handle is still tight and comfortable, and the finish looks as good as the day it arrived. For something used this hard that is remarkable, and it tells you the materials and heat treatment are the real thing rather than a pretty finish over cheap steel.

Ryūsui - Bunka Knife Damascus 6.5"

I have wanted properly forged steel for years and finally treated myself, and I only wish I had done it sooner. The precision is on another level, the handle is beautifully fitted, and the edge came sharp enough to slice paper cleanly straight from the box. Every meal since has been faster and more enjoyable to prepare.

Frequently asked questions

How do I care for and maintain my knife?

keyboard_arrow_down
add remove

Hand wash with warm water and mild soap immediately after use, then dry thoroughly with a soft cloth. Never put your knives in the dishwasher; the heat and harsh detergents will damage both the blade and the handle.

Store them in a knife block, on a magnetic strip, or with blade guards to protect the edge.

How often should I sharpen my knives, and how?

keyboard_arrow_down
add remove

With regular home use, honing with a ceramic rod every few weeks keeps the edge aligned, and a full sharpening every 6 to 12 months restores it completely. A whetstone at around 1000/3000 grit is the best option for maintaining the fine edge these blades are known for.

Are these knives suitable for beginners or only for professional chefs?

keyboard_arrow_down
add remove

They're designed for both. The balance and lightweight feel make them comfortable for home cooks, while the edge retention and precision are what professionals look for. If you're new to high-quality knives, the main adjustment is learning to let the blade do the work instead of applying pressure.

Does it come in packaging suitable for a gift?

keyboard_arrow_down
add remove

Yes. Each knife ships in a protective presentation box, so it's ready to give as-is without needing any extra wrapping. It's a common choice for weddings, housewarmings, and anyone getting serious about cooking.

Is the handle comfortable for long prep sessions?

keyboard_arrow_down
add remove

Yes. The handle is shaped to sit naturally in the hand and the knife is balanced so the weight doesn't pull forward. That balance is what prevents wrist fatigue when you're prepping for a while, and it's one of the biggest differences you'll feel compared to a cheap knife.

What if I'm not satisfied with my knife?

You're covered by a 30-day risk-free trial. Use it, cook with it, and if it's not right for you, send it back for a full refund. The knife is also backed by a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.
